Interstate 10 is known to be one of the most dangerous highways in America. Numerous people have suffered injuries or lost their lives in collisions that occur on I-10 while traveling through the Baton Rouge area. Most recently, Louisiana police were called to investigate a multi-vehicle crash involving a semitrailer.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, a collision involving a total of seven automobiles occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near the exit to Highland Road. Pictures of the incident only appear to show four of the vehicles involved in the collision. A semitrailer can be seen on top of a crushed sedan and smashed into the back of a pickup truck. Behind those three vehicles, another car with significant damage appears to have struck the concrete barrier. Only minor injuries were initially reported.
At this time, it is unclear what caused the crash. Investigators have yet to release any further details about this event. As such, it is unknown if any charges are pending against any of the drivers involved.
Given the state of some of the vehicles involved in the wreck, it is amazing that only minor injuries were reported. The simple truth, however, is that what may seem like minor injuries at first can, over hours, days or weeks, develop into something far worse, which can be devastating financially and emotionally. With the assistance of counsel, victims of this crash may be entitled to seek relief for any economic or non-economic damages the state of Louisiana deems legally recoverable. They may do this by filing claims against the party deemed responsible. If that ends up being the driver of the semitrailer, claims may be filed against his or her employer as well.
