Louisiana motor vehicle accidents: 3 injured recent crash

On Behalf of | Aug 17, 2018 | motor vehicle accidents

Law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge were recently called to the scene of a crash that left three people injured. This event happened Thursday, Aug. 16. Per Louisiana laws, if negligence contributed to this incident, the victims may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses — which is true for all motor vehicle accidents.

According to reports, police were called the scene of what they believe to be a single-vehicle crash on Nicholson Drive. Once they arrived, they found a car off the side of the road and a train stopped in its tracks. The driver and two passengers of the automobile were severely hurt. All were transported to an area hospital where they were listed in critical condition.

A video report that accompanied the written news reports claims that the car may have struck a tree before coming to a stop. Few other details have been released about this incident. So far, no charges have been filed against the driver.

If the evidence suggests the driver was negligent in his or her actions leading up to this crash, his or her passengers may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses by pursuing personal injury claims in a Louisiana civil court. While taking legal actions against friends or family members following motor vehicle accidents may not be on anyone’s to do list, sometimes it is the only way to get insurance to pay a fair settlement. The victims in this case can turn to legal counsel for guidance on the best way to proceed in terms of seeking relief for their losses. It may be possible to achieve fair settlements without having to go to court.
