Louisiana motor vehicle accidents: 2 hurt, 1 killed in crash

On Behalf of | Apr 20, 2018 | motor vehicle accidents

A recent car crash in Louisiana claimed one life and left two other people injured — including the driver responsible. Motor vehicle accidents with such outcomes are difficult for friends and family to overcome. This wreck is particularly heartbreaking as the victims are all teenagers.

According to reports, on the morning of April 9, three students from Northeast High School were in a vehicle on their way to school when the 19-year-old driver failed to stop at a stop sign. When the Honda Accord entered the intersection at Port-Hudson Pride Road and Plank Road, it was struck by a dump truck. The truck driver was okay, but all three teenagers were not properly restrained and suffered serious injuries. One of the teens — a 14-year-old male — later died at the hospital.

The driver of the sedan and another passenger are expected to survive. Their current conditions are unknown. Police are still in the process of investigating this incident. It is unclear if any criminal charges are pending in this case.

Motor vehicle accidents involving children are devastating to read about and experience firsthand. There are no words that could fully describe how the victims’ families and the driver responsible are feeling right now, as the losses suffered are simply too great. While nothing can change what has happened, relief may be sought to help the surviving victim and the family members of the deceased move forward. The state of Louisiana allows civil claims to be filed in certain car accident cases, and if litigation proves successful, monetary damages may be awarded.
