Louisiana motor vehicle accidents: 3 injured in recent wreck

| Feb 22, 2018 | motor vehicle accidents

A mother and her two young boys were recently injured in a car accident in Louisiana. Police believe that the driver responsible was impaired and speeding when he collided with their car. When negligent behavior is thought responsible for motor vehicle accidents — such as in this case — victims may pursue damages through legal means.

The morning of Tuesday, Feb. 20 likely started out as a normal day for the 30-year-old woman and her two sons — ages 8 and 9. While driving her boys to school, however, their vehicle was hit head-on by an out-of-control vehicle that crossed the center line. The mother and sons all suffered moderate injuries and were taken to local medical centers for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown.

The driver responsible for the collision is said to be a 35-year-old male. Even though speed and impairment are though contributing factors, there will be no criminal charges filed as this gentleman failed to survive the crash. Police are still in the process of investigating this incident.

In Louisiana, as in other states, the death of the responsible party does not mean that victims of motor vehicle accidents cannot seek compensation for their losses. Under the right circumstances, it is possible to file personal injury claims against the estate of the deceased in order to pursue damages. This is a process that can take some time, but with the assistance of an experienced attorney this mother and her two boys can do everything necessary to seek maximum relief.
