Louisiana wrongful death: Man killed in motorcycle accident

On Behalf of | Sep 28, 2017 | wrongful death

The company behind the popular three-wheeled motorcycle called the Slingshot is taking some heat following a crash that killed one man. The victim’s family believes that a manufacturing defect contributed to his death. Those in Louisiana who are going through similar experiences may be entitled to pursue wrongful death claims in an effort to seek compensation for their losses.

According to a recent report, federal auto safety investigators were asked to look into the safety of the Polaris Slingshot. One owner and operator was allegedly killed after his vehicle slid and collided with another car. The victim was partially ejected, which contributed to his fatal injuries. His family believes that the seatbelt retractor was defective.

This is not the first time that Polaris has been under investigation for safety issues with this particular vehicle. There have been previous recalls due to issues with headlights, faulty steering racks and fuel lines. If an official recall is announced, it will affect approximately 4,800 Slingshots with a manufacturing year of 2015.

When motor vehicle collisions occur, most people think that human error is the cause. In many cases that is true. However, there are those who are injured or killed in such incidents due to defective devices being installed in automobiles. Louisiana residents who have suffered injuries or who have lost loved ones due to manufacturing defects may file civil claims against all those parties believed responsible. Personal injury or wrongful death claims that are successfully litigated may result in the awarding of monetary compensation for any and all damages deemed legally recoverable.
