Louisiana accident kills police officer

| Jan 7, 2015 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents

Louisiana residents would agree that nothing can be more painful than losing a close family member in an unexpected road accident. And what if that family member had been a major household bread winner? Then, coupled with the loss of a loved one, a cloud of financial insecurity can grip the family, causing the family to experience financial strain because of the fatal accident.

In a recent fatal motorcycle accident, a police officer was killed after suffering serious injuries in a collision with a car. The 39-year-old victim was a police officer with the Denham Springs Police Department in Louisiana. The man had joined the department five years ago and recently celebrated that milestone with fellow DSPD officers. According to the Louisiana police department, the officer was on call to investigate a car wreck in Denham Springs when the motorcycle accident took place.

The man was driving his police motorcycle south when an elderly lady driving a compact car seemingly appeared out of nowhere. According to reports, she turned left resulting in a crash with the police officer’s motorcycle, which smashed into the car. The police officer was then transported to a Baton Rouge hospital where he died. The elderly woman has been charged with the failure to turn left at the crossing. The fatal accident is tragic because it has taken the life of a young officer who had many years of service to give.

Obviously, the officer’s family members must be in a state of shock at the loss of a loved one. The loss is probably compounded exponentially by financial strain from loss of his wages. Typically, if a negligent driver’s actions can be proven, then the responsible individual has to pay compensation.
