It is a sad fact that tragedy can strike at any time, and horrific car accidents can happen under any circumstances. Sometimes, a chain reaction can occur after an initial accident, leading to multiple injuries and even fatalities. This appears to have occurred recently on I-10. According to reports, a car headed east toward Baton Rouge somehow veered off the highway, crossed the median and drove directly into oncoming traffic. This fatal accident claimed the life of one man.
It is not known at this time what caused the vehicle to veer off the interstate. The crash reportedly occurred right after midnight. Many factors may have contributed to the crash. Driving under the influence of intoxicants, distracted driving or falling asleep at the wheel, for example, are some common causes of these kinds of deadly crashes.
Although no amount of financial recovery can ever fully compensate for the loss of the life of a loved one, action may be taken in such cases to recover financial damages as a result of such a tragedy. In cases such as this one, the victim’s family may be able to file a wrongful death action against a negligent driver.
In such a lawsuit, it is possible to recover compensation to cover funeral and burial expenses, emotional pain and suffering at the loss of a loved one, compensation for loss of future income and compensation for loss of companionship. Although such individuals may be grief-stricken with the loss of their loved one after a horrific event, it is best to act swiftly to obtain the best possible outcome when it comes to these types of claims.
