My husband was killed as a result of an accident where his co-workers were negligent. I contacted an attorney who agreed to take my case. I came to Mr. Gaar after having to discharge my first attorney. I was injured in a trucking accident, and initially consulted a "family friend" who was an attorney. My "family friend" assured me that he would promptly obtain workers' compensation benefits and pay for necessary medical tests and treatment which I needed. My doctor ordered and MRI and when I went for the test, I was told after arrival, that the MRI had not been approved nor had it been pre-paid by my attorney. Not only did my attorney fail to communicate with me, but likewise failed to get my workers' compensation benefits started or to obtain approval of the MRI or necessary medical tests which I needed. I promptly fired my attorney and went to see Mr. Gaar. I was in an automobile accident with a utility truck. Immediately after the wreck I experienced neck pain and shoulder pain. A friend referred me to an attorney who never really understood me or my pain. I seemed to be on his backburner and not a priority. After months of frustration with this attorney I fired him. Mr. Joseph Gaar is an excellent attorney; he's an attorney with a heart. When he works on a case Joe and his staff are hard working professionals. When I went to see Joe, I had a lawyer out of Lake Charles who had my case for 3 years and had done nothing. Most of my doctorâ??s appointments I had to pay for myself. I needed surgery on my neck which my former lawyer would pay for and couldn't seem to get set up. My previous attorney totally mishandled my case. I had to mortgage my home and almost lost everything before I went to see Joe Gaar. My previous attorney settled with the primary insurance company, for the driver who hit me, and the attorney received his check and so did the Workmanâ??s compensation carrier, which left me with nothing not even a penny.
