Law proposes lower speed limits to prevent truck accidents

Understandably, Louisiana drivers must be aware of the dangers of large trucks on the road. These vehicles are frequently moving at high speed and travel long distances. Sometimes, a truck company has drivers who flout the laws and rules of operation. When there is a truck accident, their sheer size leads to significant injuries and fatalities. Law enforcement and legislators are constantly trying to find ways to reduce the danger of a trucking accident. One lawmaker is pushing a change to the law that would require vehicles above a certain size to reduce their speed by 10 mph when on the interstate.

Nothing can prepare a Louisiana family for the unexpected death of a loved one in an accident. When it happens through, the negligence of another, it is even more difficult to confront. While any accident with a fatality will be tragic, they might be explainable as they happen because of the weather, due to a mishap at work or from another circumstance. However, a fatal accident that comes about because of another's irresponsibility, combined with the issues a family will face in its aftermath justifies a wrongful death case.

A distracted driver can sabotage attempts to drive defensively

Drivers in Louisiana and throughout the nation if not the entire world are cognizant of the dangers of encountering a distracted driver. With April having been designated Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the issue is coming to the forefront in new ways. It is an unfortunate reality that it does not take much effort to spot a fellow driver who is using his or her smartphone while behind the wheel. There are numerous ways to use a device that go beyond texting including searching for music, updating status on social media, taking pictures, taking videos and more. When there is a car accident, drivers must always have it in their minds that it might have been due to a driver not paying attention.
