Louisiana ranked third-highest for bicyclist fatalities

Every car driver in Louisiana, as well as in the entire United States, is expected to adhere to the traffic laws under all circumstances. Law-abiding and safe driving is considered a primary responsibility of all drivers. This is especially true in cases in which other drivers are operating small cars, motorcycles, scooters or bicycles. An accident involving a car and a smaller type of conveyance can lead to serious or even deadly injuries. These may include traumatic brain injuries, internal and external bleeding and fractures, among others.

Fighting negligence with experience in truck accident cases

Truck companies generally urge their drivers to follow all laws related to driving a big rig, such as speed limits, restrictions on texting while driving and prohibitions on driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. Trucking companies are also required to enforce the various rules regarding the number of hours a truck driver can operate his or her rig or even the timing of driving across various state and interstate highways, including those in Louisiana.

Worker takes Louisiana companies to court over offshore injuries

A lot of maritime businesses are based in Louisiana and they employ a large number of people. However, offshore work is often hazardous and injuries are common. Several maritime laws, such as the Jones Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, have been enacted to protect the rights of offshore workers in the event of work-related injury.

Fatigued drivers increase risk of auto accidents

Many Lafayette residents have been victims of car accidents or know family, friends or loved ones who have suffered serious injuries due to car crashes. People drive their cars everywhere, from their homes to their place of work, the supermarket, on vacations, or to meet with friends and family. With people spending so much time behind the wheel, driver fatigue has become a major safety issue. A driver who is tired and drowsy is likely to lose focus over the road and is no different than any other distracted driver who may cause a car accident.
